Hi! My Name is Carlos Beate and I’m the commercial Manager of Andando Tours.
I started my career in tourism as a mountain guide in Spain, where I worked for a little over 2 years before returning to Ecuador with the clear goal of making a living by sharing the wonders of my country with the world. After 7 years, I believe myself lucky, since I have one of the most amazing jobs imaginable. I get to travel around in Ecuador, a treasure trove of natural and cultural riches, to then travel abroad promoting our programs and pristine destinations.
Ecuador has 4 very different worlds, and although I have fallen in love with the astounding uniqueness of the Galapagos islands, I have to admit that my absolute favourite are the Andes, named as the avenue of the Volcanoes by Alexander Von Humboldt: a magical and secret kingdom above the clouds that I have been (and still am) exploring since I can remember.
Among these volcanoes the Antisana is for me the most beautiful and imposing; it has the biggest glaciers of South America and is surrounded by one of the best preserved highlands in the continent, making the perfect home for the sacred Andean condor.
