Panama Jouneys

About our Panama partner

Panama Journeys is the sister company of Colombian Journeys and offers inbound and destination management services throughout the country for FITs and groups. We remain a small boutique DMC and our aim is to stay that way while continuing our geographical reach, focused on what the traveler requires in terms of ethics, service, values and the importance we place on attention to detail in our trip planning.

Having explored the travel market and opportunities in Panama, we realize there is much more to the country than chic shopping malls, glitzy casinos, and all-inclusive resorts. Panama goes beyond that and has much more to promote and offer the tourism market.

The team at Panama Journeys knows our clients are discerning and well-informed and we offer the best service to meet these expectations. No request is too hard for us, we use our extensive product range and the best standards for quality, customer service and security, to award our travelers with the best experience of Panama.

Panama

Panama is often associated with the tremendous engineering work of the canal which has been operating for more than a century and it is considered to be the eighth wonder of the world. Nevertheless, the country is also fascinating due to its historical past which is palpable in the “Old Quarter”, the historical center of Panama City, a true colonial jewel. The little town of Portobelo gets open toward the Caribbean Sea with the ruins of its fortress and its cultural wealth. The Forts of San Lorenzo and Portobelo have been inscribed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. In the central area, the little town of Natá de los caballeros preserves a large church that evokes the period of the Spanish domination, and Parita that with its little colonial center revives memories of the glorious colonial past where the time seems to have stopped.

The country charms and conquers because of its impressive cultural wealth that stands out mainly in the central part and in the provinces of Los Santos, Herrera, Veraguas and Coclé with their traditions and folklore which are the pride of their inhabitants. It is easy to be amazed by the ability craftsmen have in order to create clay vases by using the same system that has been used for centuries, by the works made up with paper mache for producing incredible masks that show off Diablicos Sucios during the celebration of Corpus Cristi, or by the elaboration of the Pollera, the typical Panamanian dress.

Furthermore, the true surprise of the country is undoubtedly its extraordinary biodiversity, constituted thanks to its privileged position where the Americas converge. In fact, more than 35 % of the national territory is protected by national parks or natural reserves that preserve the habitat of 800 bird species, 200 mammals, 240 reptiles and more than 10,00 species of plants. Not leaving aside, the idyllic beaches spread in islands and gulfs both on the Caribbean coast and in the Pacific; some of them remain still unexplored, and others are famous worldwide among surfers in search of the perfect wave.

Not many people know, but Panama surprisingly boasts a wealth of ethnographies, Emberà-Wounaan, and Ngöbe-Buglé. A couple of the communities settled among the provinces of Veraguas, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro.

Sandra Marcucci

General Manager

As a first-generation Venezuelan born to Italian immigrants, travel has always been in my blood. From a young age, I developed a passion for travel and enjoyed organizing trips for my family and friends. However, when it came time to choose my university degree, I decided to study economics, which I enjoyed very much, but I still continued to cultivate my passion for travel during those years. After graduating with my degree and working in my field for a year, my family offered me the opportunity to manage a travel agency, allowing me to combine the best of both worlds. This decision marked the beginning of the best seven years of my professional life.

Due to a somewhat complicated situation in Venezuela in 2010, I moved to Bogotá, Colombia, embarking on a new adventure. Professionally, I had the opportunity to manage the administrative, travel, and logistics department of a financial services consulting company. Personally, it was a very enriching experience because it allowed me to get to know a beautiful country, fall in love with its people, culture, and cuisine. In 2017, the same company offered me the opportunity to open their operations in Panama and move there with my family. From the moment we set foot in the city, we felt at home. Panama is a small country but with an immense amount of beauty. For this reason, in 2023, I decided it was time to return to my passion for tourism and use my experience to showcase to the world what Panama has to offer.

As General Manager of Panama Journeys, I am committed to creating unique and unforgettable experiences for our clients, showcasing the natural wonders, culture, and history of this beautiful country. With a team of dedicated professionals, we work tirelessly to design and execute tailored itineraries that meet the needs and preferences of our clients, whether they are seeking adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion. Our goal is to provide exceptional service and exceed our client’s expectations, making their trip to Panama a truly memorable one.
