IMPORTANT INFORMATION

ALLIANCE WITH ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS
The Colombian airline Avianca announced a new shared code with the Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA). This alliance will reduce travel time to Japan by 25%, connecting Bogotá to Tokyo in about 18 flight hours. Now this shared code will allow passengers to make a three-hour flight to Mexico City and there make a trip of approximately 14 hours to Narita International Airport, in Tokyo (Japan). The tickets with the new connections are already on sale since February 5th, 2018.
 
MÓNACO BUILDING – MEDELLÍN
Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga, the Mayor of Medellín, confirmed on February 21st, within the framework of ANATO Tourism Exhibit 2018, the decision to demolish the Monaco Building, in El Poblado neighborhood of Medellín, which was Pablo Escobar’s old home and it became a benchmark of the drug trafficking era in this city. In its place a park and monument will be built in tribute to the thousands of victims of drug trafficking. There is no concrete date for its demolition yet.
 
PALOSANTO RESTAURANT
Palosanto Restaurant, specialized in local cuisine and Mediterranean food, changed its location in the walled city of Cartagena. It has a new and privileged location on the Artilleria beach, in a place where the yellow colors stand out in a casual atmosphere that represents the culture of Cartagena. Its seating capacity is 65 people. New address: Cuartel de la Artillería, Calle Playa de la Artillería 36-86.
 
SOFITEL SANTA CLARA
The luxury hotel Sofitel Legend Santa Clara of Cartagena, has remodeled some of its rooms to have a greater offer of Superior rooms type. Currently it has 123 rooms divided into 12 Classic, 80 Superior, 11 Luxury, 15 Colonial Suites, 1 Spa Suite and 4 Iconic Suites: Junior Suite Legend by Ana Mercedes Hoyos, Amaral Suite, Fernando Botero Presidential Suite and Enrique Grau Suite.
 
MERECUMBE INFORMATION
We inform you that Merecumbe Hotel, located in the Tayrona Park area, changed its rooms inventory. Currently has 13 rooms, divided into 2 Standard, 9 Superior and 1 Superior with capacity for 5-6 people, all with private bathroom, and additional 1 dorm type room with 8 cabins. We remind you that this hotel does not have hot water.
SPORT BARÚ CHANGED NAME
Sport Barú hotel, located on Isla Barú, 35 minutes from Cartagena de Indias, changed its commercial name and brand to Aura Hotel Barú. Now it has 16 rooms divided into 6 Superior rooms, 4 Superior Family, 2 Superior Bungalow and 4 Standard Bungalow, all with private bathroom, air conditioning, hair dryer, hot water, minibar and security box.
 

RECOMMENDED HOTELS

ISLA GIGI 3*
The hotel is located on a 3,700m2 private island in the Rosario and San Bernardo Islands National Natural Park, approximately 45 minutes by boat from Cartagena de Indias. It offers 3 Chalets, one of these with private jacuzzi. All have private bathroom, air conditioning, 42-inch TV and security box. It does not have Wifi or hot water. The hotel has a kiosk with hammocks and a dining room. It has additional services as sport fishing, snorkelling, diving and visits to the aquarium (with prior booking). They also offers day tours on the island and does not have beach.
 
EL DORADO HOTEL BOGOTA 4*
The hotel has a sophisticated design that highlights the pre-Columbian roots, evoked in delicate works of goldsmithing and in El Dorado Legend. It is located three blocks from Parque de la 93 and offers 76 rooms, of which 19 are twin. All are equipped with 300-thread-count linens, cable TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, private bathroom with hairdryer, minibar, desk, clock radio, coffee machine and safety box. It has 3 meeting rooms up to 250 people, a gym and two restaurants.
 

CASA NAVEGANTE  3*
 
The Casa Navegante (“Floating House”) offers a unique concept of accommodation on a catamaran along the Caribbean coast of Colombia. This houseboat leaves from the Cholón bay, on Barú Island. The house offers 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, pool, deck chairs and hot water. It has flat screen TV with DVD, wireless internet access and hammocks. They also have diving equipment and a cook available at no extra cost. Maximum capacity: 6 people.

CHAPINERO SUPPER CLUB
The secret dinners with local flavors are fashionable all over the world: New York, Barcelona, Havana, London, Paris and of course also in Bogotá. They are Supper Clubs, unusual spaces that open their doors to share a lunch or dinner prepared by local hosts. In a hidden place in the heart of Chapinero Alto neighborhood, one talented chef prepares a 5-course tasting menu prepared with Colombian ingredients. It lasts 2-3 hours and operates from Monday to Sunday. Suggested hours 12:30m (lunch) and 6-8pm (dinner).
 
COFFEE BETWEEN CONFLICT AND PEACE
It is an experience that takes place in Génova (Quindío), a coffee town hidden in the central cordillera, where the origins of the armed conflict in Colombia are told through visits to symbolic places, interaction and stories of people who testify what happened, its actors and some events that mark its outcome towards post-conflict to understand the important process of peace that Colombia is going through.
